Home sleep apnea test (HSAT)

This is an overnight sleep study completed at your home. The study is used to diagnose sleep apnea in high-risk individuals. A negative home study should almost always be followed by an in lab diagnostic polysomnogram. Most insurance companies require that an HSAT is completed before you are able to proceed with a PSG.

Polysomnography (PSG)

This is an in lab overnight sleep study used to diagnose sleep apnea, amongst other sleep disorders. A PSG has more monitoring parameters than an HSAT (ie brain EEG leads and video recording) so is more sensitive in detecting sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.

Titration Study

This is an in lab sleep study used to treat sleep apnea after it has been detected in one of the diagnostic studies. This study applies pressurized air to allow the airway to remain patent during sleep. This includes treatment with CPAP, BPAP, BPAP S/T and ASV.

Inspire Study

This is a highly specialized in lab sleep study completed after your Inspire implant has been implanted to determine its efficacy.

Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)

This is an in lab sleep study completed after an overnight PSG (also known as a 24 hour sleep study). It is typically used to diagnose pathologic sleepiness in conditions such as narcolepsy.

Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT)

This is an in lab sleep study completed during the day used to measure your ability to stay awake. It is used to determine how well you are able to resist sleep.

Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) Treatment Study

This is a treatment study (at home or in lab) used to determine the efficacy of treatment in patients opting to use an MAD for treatment of mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
